'Slime Season 3' - Young Thug REVIEW

Atlanta singer/rapper Young Thug comes out with his long-awaited 'Slime Season 3' or usually abbreviated as SS3. Young Thug blew up in 2014 when he started to record music with God himself,  Kanye West. In 2014 he also made music with his friend and fellow musician Rich Homie Quan, (whom he has recently dissed in a sequence of wild events), and Chief Keef. All this while releasing hits like 'Stoner' and 'Danny Glover'. His fame carried on throughout 2015 with mega-hits like 'Best Friend', 'Worth It', and 'POWER'. He is also famous for his eccentric style, where he wears dresses and other women's clothing. Most people on social media call him 'gay' for this, although he usually takes these insults to his advantage with a sense of humor. If you tell Thug he sucks dick he'll say he sucks two. This funny, eccentric, and carefree style caught the attention of Elton John himself. Elton found Thug's music through Apple Music, where he became fond of Thug's harmonies and verses. Thug finally met Elton John last week, after facetiming eachother for instrumentals for an updated version of John's song 'Rocket Man' to come out later this year. It's cool to say that a young artist that is in touch with the youth is now friends with music legend, Elton John. This builds bridges and encourages young people to go back and listen to Elton's music.

Slime Season 3 is just like the other albums in the Slime Season series. His music gets repetitive and rarely comes with a new sound. People still love his music, even if it gets repetitive and boring. Slime Season 3 starts off with a great track 'With Them'. 'With Them' has a great dance beat, a very funky instrumental accompanied with a piano riff. Young Thug has some good lines in his verses, although there is little rhyming in them. This song also features a change of pace where Thug raps as fast as the beat. The next song is the autotune heavy 'Memo'. It is a lackluster beat with way too much high-hat and Thug has to be creative in order to make this song any bit interesting. So Thug raps from low to high volumes where the beat changes to a faster speed. He also raps a line then sings the last word, which does not feature his best singing.
'Drippin' is definitely the worst track of this record, good production, but Thug's rapping is so mediocre that it just can't justify the great synth beat. Thug talks in a way that mimics an African's English and then yells into the microphone with lines where the only word that rhymes is 'N*gga'. Total waste of a beat.
'Digits' is classic Thug. He sings and he raps over a decent beat. His singing is executed very well, and this is probably the best song on the short record.
'Slime Season 3' is a repetitive and dull record with nothing new from Thug. Thug's loyal fans will like it, as well as anyone who liked his last few projects. 'Digits' and 'With Them' are the best tracks, everything else is lackluster, and please skip over 'Drippin'. Overall 5/10 album. Listen Here.
