The Detroit Pistons.
The Detroit Pistons have been very good since waiving Josh Smith. Josh Smith was a starter for the Pistons, not scoring as much as he has in his career. He has been noticeably less athletic and energized then when he was with the Hawks. Back when he was a great All-Star caliber player. But after settling in Detroit he started taking more and more shots from behind the arch. By missing more and more 3-pointers made him a player you couldn't trust. He had an obsession with taking them, that made his true talents, like being in the post and hitting short jumpers, worse. Then when they waived him, people thought about Josh Smith and how bad he was becoming, but totally forgot how good the Pistons were becoming without him. Going 8-2 against good teams, like the Spurs, the next ten games. Greg Monroe put up big numbers having a 17 ppg average in January, and putting up 27 in a win over a good Mavericks team. Brandon Jennings turned into a reliable point-guard helping his team more and more, hitting a game winner amidst it. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is showing spurts of how good he can be on his way to becoming a valuable role player for this team, notching 20 in the Pistons loss to Atlanta. Andre Drummond has also been keeping up good work, having an average of 13.7 ppg, and 15 reb, in the last ten games. The Pistons are rolling, bein energetic and exciting. All of which comes from one reason, waiving Josh Smith. That is good, but also kind of awkward, to think you are the player who caused a team to be bad for the first half of the season.
